

Born in Waterbury on April 23, 1949, he was the son of the late Fred and Lucy (DiStefano) DiLeo. Joe had many interests including music, sports and amateur radio. He published two professional books which became the basis for his two courses that he taught at Wolcott High School, SCOPE and SHAPE. For over 35 years he worked as a group counselor in Wolcott Public Schools.
Besides his wife of 19 years, Joe is survived by a sister Rosemary and her husband James Fleming of Hawthorne, CA, a brother John and his wife Mary DiLeo of Cheshire, a sister-in-law Elaine Thibodeau of Southington, his step mother Antoinette DiLeo of Waterbury, aunts Lena Napolitano of Cheshire, Marianne LaRosa of Southington, and uncle Joseph and his wife Anne DiLeo also of Southington, several beloved cousins, nieces and nephews and their children.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Colleagues, students & former students may leave condolences online at www.dellavecchiafh.com. Joe and his family request that in lieu of flowers Memorial Donations may be made to a Scholarship fund being set up at Wolcott High School.
