Joseph Matczak

He was born Aug. 4, 1957, the son of Glenda (Shubert) Matczak and the late Joseph Matczak. He had been employed by Colt Mfg in West Hartford for 25 years and was active in the Colt Mfg Union committee. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church. He loved fishing, camping, the outdoors and was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan. He also enjoyed vegetable gardening and was a great cook. Friends and family will miss his comical ability to make people laugh.

Besides his mother he is survived by a brother John Matczak of Southington and 2 sisters, Susan Bard and her husband Tony of Plantsville and Linda Briggs and her husband Steven of Southington, several niece, nephews and a great nephew.

The Funeral will be held Tuesday 9:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m. for a mass. Burial will be at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday 4-8 p.m. Joe was a cancer survivor, his family would like donations to be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society,538 Preston Ave. Meriden, CT 06450-1004.
