Josephine A. Fortier

Born on November 2, 1929 in Southington to the late Vincent and Adeline (Cristillo) Andres, Jo was deeply rooted in her community. She was a small business owner, proudly operating Home Decorating Center for over 24 years. For the next 25 years, Jo's second career was selling tickets and enthusiastically greeting movie-goers at the theater on Meriden-Waterbury road. After retiring at 89, she volunteered at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute at the Hospital of Central Connecticut for 2 years.

Jo's home was her sanctuary, a warm and welcoming place filled with the scent of something always cooking or baking. Jo was exceptionally thoughtful, never forgetting a birthday or the extra details that make a holiday feel magical. She loved gardening and opening her home to family and friends, creating lifelong memories. Jo will forever be known for her non-stop energy and for being a wonderful host.

Jo was the heart of her family: a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose legacy lives on in the lives she touched. She is survived by her daughter, Kim Fortier Bohigian, her granddaughter Ashley Bohigian Brown and her husband Kalen, their children Olivia (9) and Audrey (6), and her grandson Chad Bohigian and his wife Eliza, and their children Zoey (6), Cody (4) and Lily (1). She is also survived by her sister Dolores Basney, and her niece and nephew, Andrea and Ronnie Basney. All who loved Jo will carry forward her values, her stories and her unwavering belief in the importance of home and togetherness.

Josephine was predeceased by her daughter, Claudia Fortier, with whom she is now reunited.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main Street, Southington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the Church of St. Dominic,1050 Flanders Road, Southington. She will be laid to rest at St. Thomas cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Josephine's memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
