

She was born on December 21, 1938 in Hartford daughter of the late Harry W. and Lenora E. (Alderman) Allyn. Prior to her retirement she was employed by the Town of Plymouth as a Home Health Aid. Joyce was still very active in her retirement. She was a driver for the CT Eye Bank, helped at the Plymouth Food Pantry, curator for the Lock Museum of America, on the Plymouth Housing Authority, Peer Mentor for the Plymouth School System, and a Commissioner for the Plymouth Park and Recreation Department. She enjoyed camping, spending many years camping with the Lamplighters of NCHA now known as FCRV. She was a member of Eastern Star Olivet Chapter 29, Whigville Grange, Mountain County Pomona, Terryville Lions Club and the Immaculate Conception Church. She was well known for crocheting baby blankets, prayer shawls and ?scrubbies?. Baked goodies from Nana was a treasure, for all who received them. Her faith was one of her greatest strengths that she shared with her children and shared with others through being a hostess for the St. Thomas Passion Play.
Joyce leaves behind her daughter Deborah McGrane and husband James and their children Charles and Caraline all of Terryville, and a son Sean Relihan and wife Kim and their children Kyle and Kegan all of Southington, a sister-in-law Shirley (Buckley) Allyn of OH, along with several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by a brother Duane E. Allyn.

The Funeral will be held on Friday June 1 at the Immaculate Conception Church, 170 Main Street, Terryville for an 11 am Mass. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Burlington Cemetery in Burlington. Calling hours will be at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. on Thursday from 4-8 pm.
