

She was born August 21, 1934 in NY the daughter of the late William and Ann (Tobin) Thompson. She received a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Fordham University in NY. She had retired 18 years ago as Director of the Connecticut Clearing House in Plainville. Kathleen was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect, and was a member of the Ladies Guild of the church. She helped start the Women’s Club of Prospect and was very active in the town. She and two other motivated women recognized the needs of their growing community, when asked to serve she gave her time and leadership abilities without reservation to help a growing Prospect become a wonderful town to raise a family and a caring community to age with dignity.
After her retiring her life revolved around her loving grandchildren. She loved to travel with her husband and friends and was known to have this infectious laugh. Her Irish eyes are smiling down on us.
She is survived by her daughter Karen and her husband Zaya Oshana of Plantsville, a sister Joyce Ferrara of Long Island, NY, her grandchildren who were the light of her life, Zaya Eugene and Katherine Ann. She was predeceased by a sister Jean Marie McKenna.
The Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday 11:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Church in Prospect. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Calling hours will be Tuesday 5-8 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center, 1261 S. Main St., Plantsville, CT 06479.
