

Louis G. Collar, 97, of Southington, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2023. Louis was the beloved husband of Leatrice (Taylor) for 76 years. He was born on Valentine’s Day, 1926 in Oakland Maine, a son of the late Herbert and Ruby (Bush) Collar. He along with his twin sister, were the youngest of many siblings.
Louis proudly served during World War II in the United States Army. He was responsible to run and maintain telephone and telegraph lines in Europe. He worked at Rex Forging until his retirement as a forger.
Louis was a member of the American Legion, Kiltonic Post 72. He enjoyed his travels cross-country in a mobile home, and growing and sharing his annual gardening abundance of tomatoes and rhubarb.
Louis loved his family first, as he was an adored and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be dearly missed by the love of his life; his wife Leatrice, children Linda (John) Ferrucci of FL, Lawrence Collar of Bristol, Lee Collar of Meriden, Lon (Sandy) Collar of Southington, Lori (Scott) Inman of Wallingford, 9 grandchildren; Drew, Chris, Brianne, Lynn, Randy, Zachary, Taylor, Joey and Jan, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his son Louis “Buzzy” Collar, grandson John Ferrucci Jr., daughter-in-law Doretta Collar and his many siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 11 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial with military honors will follow in Wonx Spring Cemetery.
