
Born on Nov. 2, 1912, she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Jane (Watts) Skinner. She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed her summers in Vermont. She bowled, played basketball, and was an avid UCONN Women’s Basketball fan.
She is survived by her 5 sons and their wives, James and Claudette Porter of Sarasota, FL, Sterling, Jr. and Leatrice Porter of Southington, David Porter of Southington, Terry and Ann Porter of LasVegas, NV, and Thomas and Connie Porter of Milldale. 16 grandchildren, James Porter Jr., Barbara Dinello, Richard Porter, Doreen Dube, Nancy Barnett, Margaret Mottola, Joanne Herms, Sterling Porter III, Kelly Lea Laone, Ann Margaret McKinney, Susan Sessock, David Porter, Deborah Porter, Elizabeth Rossetti, Kelly Ann Zeitel, and Thomas Porter Jr. 31 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and a very special devoted friend, Doris Grant. She was predeceased by a daughter Barbara, one granddaughter, Vanessa Ouellette, and a great granddaughter, Kayla Zeitel, 2 brothers, James and Francis Skinner.
The Porter family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Ciardella, and the staff at the Summit Nursing home and the staff at Bradley Campus for their love and special care given to their mother.
The Funeral will be held Wednesday Feb. 4, at 9:15 a.m.from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Summit Recreation Fund, Summit St. Plantsville, CT 06479.
