Mary Hunt

Born on October 14, 1931 in Gloversville, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Weaver) Byron. She graduated from Gloversville High School in 1949 and Russell Sage College in 1953. In 1954 she married Charles A. Hunt III who passed away in 1997. She worked in the Wolcott Public Schools for 44 years as a substitute teacher and a Title 1 tutor. She was a Member of the Wolcott Public Library Board of Trustees for over 30 years and served as Chairman of the Board. She was a member of the Wolcott Congregational Church for over 50 years where she served as Superintendant of Sunday School, Financial Secretary, on the Missions Committee and a Deacon. She was also a member of the Junior Women?s Club in Wolcott.

Mary was a bibliophile, an avid reader, bridge player, and loved crossword puzzles. She took up golf late in life and became an avid golfer.

Mary is survived by two sons William and his wife Kathy Hunt of Wolcott, Charles Hunt of New York City, a brother Patric Byron of Gloversville, NY, three grandchildren William, Patrick and Kaitlin Hunt all of Wolcott and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Bailey of Bastop, TX and Elizabeth and her husband William Davidson of Unadilla, NY. She was predeceased by a brother James Byron.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and dedication of the staff and management of the Village at East Farms and Vitas Hospice.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday 11 AM at the Wolcott Congregational Church 185 Center St. on the Wolcott green. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
