

She was born on August 22, 1938 in New Bedford, MA the daughter of the late Joseph and Aline (Despres) Farrell. She moved to Connecticut in 1969 with her family and graduated in the fall of 1974 from the New Britain General Hospital Nursing program. Lou worked as an orthopedic nurse at the Hospital of Central Connecticut (formerly New Britain General Hospital) until her retirement in April, 1999. She also worked at the former Ridgewood Convalescent Home for several years after her retirement from the hospital.
Lou was an avid reader and had mastered the use of her Kindle, which she loved. She spent many hours reading her favorite author, J.D. Robb. She was also a devoted soap opera fan. She also spent many hours watching her grandsons play middle and high school baseball.
She is survived by her three sons, David and wife Denise Govoni, Michael Govoni and Steven Govoni all of Southington, 6 grandchildren James, Matthew, Ryan, Mark, Casandra and Bryan and a great grandson Logan. She also leaves a brother Rodney Roderiques and wife Loretta and nieces Jennifer and Erika. She was predeceased by her son Robert Govoni and sister Sandra Roderiques.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 11:30 at the Della Vecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St.. Inurnment will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday morning from 10-11:30 am.
The family of Lucille extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Summit at Plantsville for the wonderful care she was given during these last weeks of her life. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, The Summit at Plantsville or a charity of your choosing.
