It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melisa Cammuso, who left us far too soon at the age of 41. Melisa passed away surrounded by her loved ones, leaving behind memories of warmth, humor, and love.
Melisa was the devoted daughter of Pasquale and Giuseppina (Minerva) Cammuso, and the loving mother of Riyamae “Riya” Connoy, her 14-year-old daughter. Above all else, Melisa’s deepest and most enduring love was for her daughter. While Melisa faced many challenges throughout her life, her love for Riya was constant, unconditional, and profound. Being Riya’s mother was her greatest pride and purpose.
She is also survived by her three sisters: Tonia Kosienski and her husband Corey, Giovanna Cammuso-Stanley and her husband Jason, and Laura Rivera and her husband Orlando. She also leaves behind her beloved niece and nephews: Anthony, Joshua, Corey Jr., Christian, and Isabella—all of whom brought her great joy and whom she loved dearly.
Melisa had a great love of shopping, especially for shoes—countless pairs purchased to reflect her unique and vibrant style. Her family will forever treasure the beautiful memories of trips together, including Italy and Mexico—some of the very best times of their lives.
Melisa will be remembered most for her kind spirit, her sense of humor, and a contagious laugh that could brighten even the darkest moment. She had a remarkable ability to connect with others through her authenticity and brought comfort and laughter to those around her.
Her loss is deeply felt by all who loved her, but her memory will continue to live on—especially through her beloved daughter, Riya, and the many lives she touched with her warmth and love.
A period of visitation will be held at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington, on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2:00–5:00pm. Melisa’s funeral will begin at the funeral home on Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am at The Church of St. Dominic, 1050 Flanders Rd., Southington. Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery in Southington.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Melisa’s honor to: Riyamae Connoy, mailed to 25 Turnberry Court, Plantsville, CT 06479.
