

Michael Abbatiello Sr, 59, of Southington, was called home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. He was born on November 30, 1964 in Bristol, CT to Dolores (Mastrianni) and the late Salvatore Abbatiello Jr.
Mike graduated Wilcox Technical High School in 1982. He found a love for working on automobiles at one of his first jobs as a mechanic at Gallagher Buick. Mike then pursued higher education at Central Connecticut State University where he graduated with an accounting degree in 1994. Mike worked for Loctite as an Accountant before starting his career as a state auditor under the legislative branch with the State of Connecticut.
Mike was passionate about spending time with his big Italian family. He was known to be the laughter in every room and was always able to put a smile on everyone’s face. He was a motorcycle enthusiast and could often be seen riding his 105th anniversary, Harley Davidson Electra Glide. He enjoyed skeet shooting and fishing and was a member of the Bristol Fish and Game Club, as well as the Sons of Italy. Mike loved watching his sons play hockey where he grew a passion for being behind the camera; known for taking photographs to share special memories. One of Mike’s favorite summer past times was spending time in the pool and tanning with his daughter. Mike was well known for being the best amateur chef there was, and still holds the secret recipe for his pasta sauce. Mike was an avid supporter of our men and women in blue, due to family ties.
Michael is survived by his mother Dolores, his three children; Michael Jr., Anthony and Rosanna along with their mother Paula DePinto, his brother Salvatore III, his fiancé Kennetha Taber, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was pre-deceased by his father Salvatore Abbatiello Jr.
His family will receive visitors on Thursday April 11, 2024 from 4:00-7:00p.m. at The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211 North Main St. Southington, CT 06489. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 12, 2024 at 11:00a.m. at St. Aloysius Church 254 Burritt St. Plantsville, CT 06479. Followed by a reception at Testa’s Banquet Facility at 26 S Center St. Southington, CT. Those who wish to attend the Mass are asked to gather directly at the church. Interment will take place privately and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions in Michael's name be made to Hartford Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 30, PO Box 523 Hartford, CT 06141-0523.
