Born Quincy, MA on September 14, 1942, he was the son of the late Thomas E. and Louise (Cole) Comer. He was raised in Milton, MA and graduated from Hussen College in Maine. Phil spent his entire working life in the retail industry. He had a variety of jobs all in managerial positions including Chubs Pier, Ponderosa, Wendy's, and most recently Dunkin Donuts. Phil was a fixture for the past twenty years at the Wolcott Dunkin Donuts. He was a devoted manager that never missed a day of work and rarely if ever took time off. He was considered the standard by which all other Dunkin Managers were measured against. He was an iconic figure in the industry and was well known for obtaining the highest customer loyalty scores throughout the business. Phil had a unique relationship with his employees that went far beyond the role of boss. He was to many a father or grandfather figure that offered counsel and advice to all that sought him out. Phil managed with kindness, caring and heart. His employees were entirely devoted to him as evidenced by his almost nonexistent turnover rate. He was an original that can never be replaced.
Phil is survived by a sister Barbara and her husband David Diamond of Brewster, MA, a brother Kenneth and his wife Roberta Comer of Springfield, VA four nephews and a niece. Phil also leaves behind so many individuals that considered him to be their friend including many former employees. He was particularly close to a number of the officers from the Wolcott Police Department that would frequently visit him at work. He will be greatly missed by all of his current employees, especially Cathy, Fran and Ruchi.
