
Born December 29, 1923 in Presque Isle, Maine, he was the son of the late Harvey & Inez (Ireland) Smith.
Philip was a Veteran of World War II serving with the US Army Aircorp and was also a prisoner of War in Germany. He was an independent drywall contractor for 20 years in CT before moving to Long Beach, CA. where he was a union carpenter with Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, retiring in 1987.
He is survived by three sons, Scott Smith and his wife Sandra of Southington, David Smith of Weinheim, Germany and Gary Smith and his wife Monica of Cheshire; four grandchildren, Shawn, James, Carrie and Edmund, one great-granddaughter, Amanda, a brother, Kilburn Smith of CA, a special niece, Pam Remmer of Las Vegas, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters, Almeda, Austin, Ruth, Alfred, Jean, Lois, Dawn and Joanne.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10 am at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Burial with military honors will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Meriden. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm.
