With sadness, we announce the passing of Richard J. Castellani, 91, of Southington, CT and Largo, Florida on April 12, 2026, following a long illness. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Maryann (Bartlewski) Castellani; his son, John D. Castellani; his sister, Elizabeth (Castellani) Satalino; and his brother, Rev. John J. Castellani.
Richard was born on December 24, 1934, in New Britain, Connecticut, the son of the late Felix and Anna (Zenittini) Castellani. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1952 and went on to attend Manhattan College, Class of 1956. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958. Richard spent 30 years working for the Internal Revenue Service, retiring at the age of 55.
Richard is survived by his two sons, James R. Castellani of St. Petersburg, FL, and Richard F. Castellani and his wife Jill of Fernandina Beach, FL; and his daughter, Christine DelBuono and her husband Anthony of Southington, CT. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Michael DelBuono of Boston, MA; Kara (Daniel) O’Reilly of Old Lyme, CT; Joshua Castellani of St. Petersburg, FL and Grace and Noah Castellani of Fernandina Beach, FL. In addition, he is survived by two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Julia O’Reilly of Old Lyme, CT.
Family may call on Saturday, April 18th from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Southington followed by a prayer service at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
