

Richard (Rich) Spieler, 65, of Naugatuck passed away peacefully on Thursday April 6 after a brief, but valiant battle with cancer. He was born in 1957 in Southington and was the son of the late Larry and Irene (Drozd) Spieler, and the beloved husband of Marcy Podolak Spieler. He was predeceased by his brother William Spieler. Rich had retired from Napa Auto Parts of Naugatuck, as a driver. Rich loved his job and the customers he served, even earning the nickname “Mountain Dew” by some of them. He was friendly and kind, and he loved meeting and speaking with people both at work and elsewhere. He deeply loved his wife, his family, his cat Blue, saltwater fishing, and Lottery scratch tickets. In addition to his wife, he leaves a brother Michael (Colleen) Spieler of Waterbury. A sister Doreen (Dan) Spieler of Maine; brother in law Peter (Denise) Podolak, nephews Kurtis (Amy) Spieler, Robert (Melissa), Raymond and Jarrod (Lauren) Podolak; nieces Lynette Guida, Kelly (Jon) Raymond - Meierdiercks, and Sarah (Jay) Sirignano. He also leaves numerous lifelong friends that are grateful to have known him and will cherish the memories they have of him forever. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington, CT 06489 and at 11:00 AM in St. Dominic’s Church, 1050 Flanders Rd. Southington, CT 06489. Burial will be private.
