Russell J. Caldarella, 72, of South Carolina and Connecticut passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 with his loving wife by his side. He was the devoted husband of Linda (Silbo) Caldarella, with whom he shared 43 wonderful years of marriage. He courageously battled his illness with a remarkable positive attitude and strength because of his will to live and the love of family.
Born in Newark, NJ, Russell was the beloved son of the late Reno and Phyllis (Giamella) Caldarella. His life was marked by love, dedication to his family and friends, kindness, and a quite strength that touched all who knew him.
Russell grew up in NJ and moved to CT to graduate from college and then made CT his home. He was a proud business owner of a successful automotive dealership for over 35 years. He also worked as fleet manager for a school bus company before retiring in 2022 and moving to South Carolina to enjoy warm weather and play the game of golf he loved so much. Russell also had a passion for cars, the Yankees, rock music, and never-ending home improvement projects. Everything he did or touched was made better because he was such a special man.
He was the loving, devoted and loyal husband, son, brother, uncle and friend to many. In addition to his wife Linda, Russell is survived by his brother Michael and his wife Laura of FL, his brother-in-law, Mark Silbo and his wife Diane of CT. He leaves loving nieces and nephews, Kristen, Amy, Michael, Christopher, Michael, Kayla and Carly as well as grand nieces and nephews all whom he loved dearly.
