Ruth Buchanan

Ruth (Winquist) Buchanan, 85, of Plainville and formerly of Southington, passed away on Sunday June 2, 2013 at the Hospital of Central CT, in New Britain, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Philip Buchanan and George Houstrup.

Ruth was born on March 9, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of the late

Oscar Clarence and Vera (Wier) Winquist. She was employed by the Mo-No-Pole Restaurant for many years and was a member of the Plainville American Legion Unit 33 for over 20 years.

Ruth is survived by three children Georgia Theriault of Plainville, Terry Delahunty and her husband James of Plantsville and James Buchanan of Plainville, a brother Victor Winquist and his wife Marilyn of MN, three grandchildren, Rachael Houstrup of Plainville, Kate Delahunty-Plourde and her husband Thomas of NC and Philip Buchanan of Glastonbury along with several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother Clarence Winquist and a sister Patricia Proctor.

Services will be held on Thursday June 6 at 11a.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home 211. N. Main St. Southington. Burial will be at West Cemetery in Plainville.
