

Sally Kathleen (Tagg) Scanlon, 83, died Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at the Summit at Plantsville with her family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Martin Scanlon. Born March 17, 1931 in Bridgeport, the daughter of the late William and Grace (Harder) Tagg.
Sally graduated from West Haven High School in 1949. She retired in 1997 after a long career with the Southington School System where she did many jobs, ending with School secretary of DePaolo Middle School. Sally was active in the St. Aloysius Ladies Guild, Girl and Boy Scouts, Calendar House and the Alzheimer Association.
Besides her husband of 56 years whom she met while volunteering at the West Haven Veterans Hospital, she is survived by her children Maureen (Barry) Stangl, Kevin (Kristen) Scanlon, Kate (Vinny) Carvalho, Meg Scanlon and Eileen (David) Kochol . She also leaves her cherished 13 grandchildren. Sally was predeceased by her sister Grace Tagg Roche and brother William Tagg.
The Funeral will be held Monday 10:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. Southington to St. Aloysius Church, 254 Burritt St. Plantsville at 11 a.m. for a Mass. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill , CT 06067 or the Vitas Innovative Hospice Care of Waterbury, 199 Park Road Extension, Suite 102, Middlebury, CT 06762.
