Salvatore “Sal” Franceso Zampi, 57, of Southington, passed away on January 21, 2021 at homem leaving behind many saddened hearts. Sal was born October 4, 1963 in Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, a son of Antonio and Salvatrice “Sally” Zampi. At age 13 he along with his entire family emigrated from Italy to the United States.
He drove for many years delivering flowers to many local residents and businesses for Scott’s Flowers and Marzi Florist, both of New Britain. He had the ability to make anyone smile and laugh with his quick humor and comments. Sal believed in being true to himself, never hold back, and to always voice his opinion.
Sal was a loving father, proud of his children. He enjoyed spending time with them, especially when it involved spoiling his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his parents, daughter Jennifer Zampi, son Salvatore (Baby) Porcell, William Torres, Andrew Kelly, grandchildren Xynaijah, RJ, Avani and Madison, sister Sebastiana Nauss and her husband Kelly, brother Corrado Zampi, nieces Anna and Gabriella, nephews Anthony and Nicholas, aunt Josephine Giangrave, uncle salvatore Giangrave, and cousins Joseph, Sandra and Sylvia, the entire Zampi and Garofalo families in Italy and many close friends.
Sal enjoyed drawing, and was a talented artist. He had a passion for collecting a variety of quality items; from watches to knives to his cherished Mustang and truck which he babied and kept in excellent condition.
Calling hours will be Thursday, February 4, from 4-7 p.m. at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington. Due to the current pandemic, face coverings and social distancing are required at all times. A Graveside Service will be Friday, January 5, at 1pm in St. Mary Mausoleum, New Britain.
