

Stephen Heiligman, 71 of Cheshire died May 23, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Komor) of 48 years, and daughters Kristen Shanley and her husband James Shanley of Southington, Karen Rivkin and her husband Scott Rivkin of Meriden, and Kimberly Kelly and her husband Michael Kelly of Southington. He will also greatly miss his two grandchildren, Michael Stephen and Annabelle Hope Kelly. Stephen loved his family with all of his heart and was so proud of his daughters and his wife, who was the ultimate caregiver.
He was born September 13, 1945 in Havertown, PA, the son of the late Frances and William Heiligman. He earned a BA from Penn State in business and loved watching his Nittany Lions football. Stephen worked in retail for 50 years and retired in 2010. He was an avid Uconn basketball fan, and enjoyed history, traveling, reading, dancing, trains and playing with his dog Kody, and Stephen also loved playing handyman as he helped family and friends with household projects: painting, wallpapering, electrical, building, etc. He loved vacationing to Aruba with his wife and family. He will be remembered for his optimistic attitude, generosity and love of life.
Calling hours will be at the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington from 4-7 P.M. on Tuesday May 30th. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at First Congregational Church in Cheshire.
