

Born in Torrington on December 9, 1925 daughter of the late Michael and Rosemary (LoRusso) Tata. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Pius X Church and an active member of their Ladies Guild. She coordinated many trips for the guild and church members. She was also an Avon representative for many years. Along with her son Bob, she was co-founder of Affordable Pump in Bantam.
Virginia and Bill raised their family in Wolcott where they resided for over 60 years. She loved her family, her flower garden, her church and traveling. She was an excellent seamstress and cook, famous for her raisin cookies.
She is survived by five children Linda and her husband Misch Lehrer of Albuquerque, NM, Curtis and his wife Rosemary Phillips of Wolcott, Glenn and his wife Janette Phillips of Simi Valley, CA, Randy Phillips of Wolcott, Bob and his wife Maria Phillips of Bantam, six grandchildren, Tanya Way, Daniel Phillips, Jessica Phillips, Andrea Phillips, Alyssa Phillips and Cory Phillips, six great grandchildren Eric, Joe and Taylor Way, Alexa, Riley and Mia Phillips. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Betty Brown of LaPine OR, two brothers-in-law Gerald Phillips of MA, Joe Carpentier of NY,
Besides her husband and parents Virginia was preceded in death by her daughter Gail, sisters Rosemary Tata and Leonova Carpentier and a brother Eugene Tata.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday 11 AM at St. Pius X Church 525 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott followed by a gathering in the church hall. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
