
He was born Oct. 13, 1934 in Waterbury son of the late Walter H. and Mary (Walsh) Scanlon. He was a teacher and guidance Councilor for Wolcott Schools and San Diego, CA schools retiring several years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War as a 1st Lt. stationed in El Paso, TX. Mr. Scanlon was a parishioner of St. Thomas Church. Bill was an avid sports fan and coached numerous youth teams in the area. He was a devoted husband ,a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed by his friends and family.
Besides his wife he is survived by 2 children, James W. Scanlon and his wife Karen of Waltham, MA and Kevin Scanlon and his wife Jane of Chaplin, his cherished grandchildren,, Autumn, Amber, Chelsey, Hanna and Haley Scanlon, Brothers, Walter Scanlon and his wife Peg of Bristol, Robert Murphy and is wife Mary Ellen of Montana, Lawrence Murphy and his wife Catherine Murphy of Oakville, Michael Murphy and his wife Brenda of Sandy Hook, Sisters, Ellen Clement of Southington, Muriel Brasche of VA, and Barbara Rossi and her husband Rocco of Southington, , and many special loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Funeral will be held Friday 8:15 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St. to St. Thomas Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 4-8 p.m. For directions and online condolences visit www.dellavecchiafh.com
