
Born in Lorain, OH on July 4, 1923, he was the son of the late William J. and Mary E. (Hoffman) Traxler. He served in the US Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. During that time he met the love of his life Frances who was also serving in the military at that time. They were married on his birthday in 1946, settled down in Waterbury and then moving to Wolcott in 1983. Bill worked as an electrician for Princeton Knitting Mills in Watertown and at the Bristol Company where he retired from in 1985. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees and UCONN men’s and women’s basketball.
He is survived by a brother-in-law George and his wife Jean Maher of Wolcott, a sister-in-law Claude Maher of Exeter, NH and several generations of nieces, nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Mary and her husband Anthony Gerard. and a brother-in-law John Maher.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM on Saturday January 24, at St. Maria Goretti Church 1300 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott. Burial with full military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The DellaVecchia Funeral Home 690 Woodtick Rd. in Wolcott.
