

Alvina Audrey Shoflay of Hamilton, Ontario, originally from Six Nations, Ontario made her final journey on November 12, 2023. She was born on May 24, 1938 to Jack Williams and Florence Maracle. She came from the Onondaga and Oneida people of Six Nations. Throughout her childhood and adult life she moved to various places in Canada until she settled in Hamilton. Anyone who knew Audrey knew she was a woman of many talents who loved her family whole-heartedly. She creatively beaded traditional/powwow regalia for her loved ones; she loved to sew quilts, crochet sweaters and blankets that would keep her family warm; and she truly loved being and visiting with family whether that was travelling, dancing at a powwow or throughout the years at family gatherings. She held varying positions in her working career, her latest retirement from the Amity Goodwill in Hamilton, ON.
She is preceded in death by her parents Jack Williams and Florence Maracle. Siblings, Donavon Williams and Tom Williams. Children, David Shoflay, Jack Chandler, Christopher Burning, and Jami Burning, and one grandchild, Joshua Shoflay.
Audrey is survived by her sister Winnie Leung. 2 sons, Duane Shoflay (Darlene) and Buddy Burning (Carole). 2 daughters, Bernadette Shoflay and Melanie Tone-Pah-Hote (Preston Jr.). Audrey was blessed to have 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was also fortunate to have many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She will be truly missed and remembered by all for her sweet tendencies, infectious laugh, wonderful sense of humour and warm hugs/kisses.
Funeral services will be held at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel on Friday, November 17, 2023. Viewing will begin at 11 am. Service to follow at 1 pm. Celebration of life in honour of our dear Audrey will be held following the service.
