Smith, Carolyn Olivia “Sam” – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Carolyn Olivia “Sam” Smith on Thursday March 3, 2016 at the Niagara Health System – St. Catharines Site at the age of 55 years. Predeceased by her parents, Barbara and Charlie. Dear wife of 25 years of David. Dear mother of Andrew. Dear sister of Marian (Gerard), Patti (Michael), and Sue (Niall). Dear sister-in-law of Barbara (Drew) and Janice (Brian). Dear aunt and great aunt to many nephews and nieces. Dear daughter-in-law of Bill and Ruth Smith.

Sam worked as a prep cook at Swiss Chalet.

Sam loved nature and animals with a special fondness for dogs. Her extraordinary creativity was expressed through her cooking, sewing, gardening, and drawing.

The family will receive friends at St. George’s Anglican Church, 83 Church Street, St. Catharines, ON (905–682-9232) on Wednesday March 16, 2016 from 2:00 p.m.to 4:00 p.m. in the Asbil Lounge.

A Celebration of Sam’s Life will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church on Thursday March 17, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. followed by a reception at the church.

In lieu of flowers and in accordance with Sam’s wishes, donations to the Lincoln County Humane Society, 160 Fourth Avenue, St. Catharines, ON L2S 0B6 (905-682-0767) would be appreciated.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the excellent care provided by Doctor Levesque and Doctor Quan and the nursing staff of the Walker Family Cancer Centre.
