Egbert Drent

August 2, 1931 – November 24, 2024

Entered into eternal rest surrounded by the love of his family at Niagara Health – St. Catharines Site on Sunday, November 24, 2024. Egbert, in his 94th year was the beloved husband of Jantina Geziena Drent (née Muller). Devoted father of Harma (Gerry) Lof, the late Christine (the late Ralph) Bergsma, Margaret (Bill) Schuurmans and John (Janet) Drent. Proud and much loved Grandpa of Conrad (Pamela) Lof, the late Mark Lof, Adam Lof, Mandy Lof, Andrew (Stephanie) Lof, Matthew Bergsma, Benjamin (Dawn) Bergsma, Tanya (Jeremy) Lott, Robin (Sean) Mystyk, Lori (Brandon) Vanderwerf, and Jonathan (Abigail) Drent. Cherished great grandfather of 25 great grandchildren. Egbert was born in Oude Pekela, Groningen, Holland to his late parents Jan and Geesina (née Heikens) Drent. He worked as an Inspector for 43 years with Timminco Mine, Haley Station. On May 12, 1953 he married Jantina and moved to Canada two weeks later with his parents and four siblings. Egbert and Jantina lived in Beachburg for 65 years, watching their family grow over the years. They moved to St. Catharines in December of 2018. Egbert’s firm belief in the Lord supported him during his earthly life giving him and his family comfort and peace. Visitation at First Reformed Church, 1136 Vansickle Road North, St. Catharines on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until the Funeral Service in the church at 2:00 p.m. The service will be live streamed and viewers can log into the website: firstrefchurch.ca Private cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Cancer Society would be appreciated.
