I am a respected researcher of Mennonite genealogy, and would like to connect your loved one to his/your family and ancestry, which I am unable to do given the information in his obituary. My on-line project contains over 500,000 individuals, including many Penners (among them my maternal and paternal grandmothers), but neither it nor major sources show any identifiable link to Fred or his/your family. Please contact me at an appropriate time if you are willing to share/exchange details. Thank you. All information about living individuals is suppressed to protect your/their privacy.

I am so sorry for the loss of Fred. I went to school with Fred and Rick, and grew up in the Hill. I would often see Fred in the Hill area and he was always so kind. He had a big heart and a gentle soul. Praying for the family during this difficult time. It really hurts the heart when a Hill brother goes home to be with the Lord. Strong roots and memories that never end no matter how far away we are from each other. Bless the Penner family and friends that loved Fred, I am sorry for never taking the time to give him a little more of my time. RIP Fred, your story has made a huge impact on the community.
