Gerard Versluis

The Lord called home Gerard at Douglas Memorial Hospital on Friday, July 29th, 2011in his 90th year. Dear, devoted husband to Irene for 34 years. Cherished father to John, Cora and Casey VandenBogert , Gary and Linda, and Ron. Proud Opa of Brandon, Jordan, Tyler, Katelyn, Jennifer, Jessica and Rebekah. Also survived by his brother John (Kitty) , and sisters Pleutje, Fijgje, Corry, and sister-in-law Rie, all of The Netherlands. Predeceased by his first wife Truus Schermers (1951), and his second wife Jennie Schermers (1972), his daughter Trudy (2005), and brother Klass (1998).

Mr. Versluis was a partner in Versluis Brothers Construction, and a dedicated member of Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, as well as the organist for many years. Gerard will always be remembered for his devotion to God and for his kind and gentle spirit. Arrangements entrusted to HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (905-684-6346). The family will receive visitors at the Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, 301 Scott St. on Wednesday, August 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9. A Funeral Service will take place in the church on Thursday, August 4th at 1:00pm. A Private family interment will take place prior to the service.
