Peacefully entered eternal rest surrounded by the love of her family, after years of fighting many courageous battles with numerous ailments on Friday, February 6, 2026, in her 83rd year. She was the dearly loved wife of Gary McSpadden for 59 wonderful years. Cherished mother of Brent McSpadden (Janet) and Susan (Craig Gaynor). Devoted and much-loved grandma of Katelyn (Tyler Spyker), Andrew McSpadden, Ryan, Bryce, and Ian Gaynor. Treasured great grandma of Parker and Ronan Spyker. She is survived by her brother David Haynes (Mary) and brother-in-law David Fair. Predeceased by her mother and father, Donald and Viola Haynes, and her sister Linda Fair. Helen will be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends. She was a devoted member of West St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and was known for her steadfast faith. In her healthier days, she loved to travel with Gary and engaged in decorative painting, baking, and sewing. Helen also cherished summers spent at Sauble Beach with her family. The Gaynor and Elson families will also feel her absence deeply. A special thank you to the oncology team, palliative care staff and Dr. Qawi for all their care and comfort provided to Helen. The family invites friends to join them at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL (75 Church Street, St. Catharines, ON) on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the chapel on the same day at 1:00 p.m., followed by interment at Maple Lawn Cemetery (1429 Third Ave., St. Catharines, ON).
