STARBUCK, Howard John-With sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Howard John Starbuck at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hamilton on Monday October 3, 2011, after a courageous battle with C. Difficile. He was in his 96th year. Loving husband to Jean (nee Mathewson) for 70 years. Devoted father to Barbara (Michael) Charron, Jackie (Roger) Cook, and Paula Starbuck. Predeceased by his son John (2009). He will be forever missed by his grandchildren Michelle (Erich) Knerr, Jonathan (Jen) Charron, Martin (Wanda) Cook, Devon Cook, Dara (Adam) Pappas, Nathan Welland, and Natalie Welland. Cherished great grandpa to Sabine and Koen Howard Knerr, Paige and Jared Starbuck Cook, and Clara Charron. Much loved brother to Dorothy Giles and Katie Goodliff. Predeceased by sisters Eileen Curry, Grace Pidduck, and Betty Playford. Howard was a lifelong resident of St. Catharines that worked at the Public Utilities Commission for over 30 years. An avid sports fan for all his life, he developed a passion for golf following retirement. He will be remembered as a man of integrity who was kind and outgoing and loved life, loved people and above all, loved his family. A heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph’s Hospital for their compassionate care. Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 5th from 2-4 and 7-9 at HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346). A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home Thursday October 6th at 1:00 pm. If desired, donations may be made to Community Care in memory of Howard.
