Hugh Hamilton Thomson

THOMSON, Hugh – It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh Hamilton Thomson on April 22, 2014 at the St. Catharines General Hospital, in his 84th year. Husband of 59 years to Patricia, beloved father of Donna (Conrad), Stuart (Carrie) and Jackie. Much loved grandfather of Erin, Syndey, Davis and Markie. Hugh was a devoted employee of the St. Catharines Standard for over 47 years before retiring in 1995, after which he spent 13 years as a crossing guard at Cushman and Rendale. Hugh was a well-respected drummer playing with various dance and marching bands since the early 1950’s. Music was a passion he very much loved and shared with his children and grandchildren, especially jazz. And if he wasn’t banging off a riff or telling a quick joke, you could find him enjoying his bacon and eggs; his favorite spot to eat them was the cabin porch at Allegany State Park. Hugh loved his time spent there with his family as well as trips to Walt Disney World.

The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church St. (905-684-6346) on Friday, April 25, 2014 from 11:00 – 1:00 followed by a Service in the Chapel at 1:00 pm.
