Passed away at age 89 on February 25, 2013. Pat was independent and active until shortly before her death. Pat was born and raised in St. Catharines. She married Robert "Bob" Corbett, also born and raised in St. Catharines, in 1950. Bob died in 1979. Pat served in the armed forces during the Second World War and, after the war, attended and graduated from the University of Toronto in psychology. Pat worked for the Children's Aid Society until her children began to arrive in 1952 and then devoted herself to her family. She was actively involved in the affairs of the housing cooperative, in which she lived, for more than 20 years until her death. Pat was an extraordinarily avid reader with many interests. She maintained a passion for politics throughout her life. She was active in community service. Her passion and her undying positive outlook on life will continue to inspire her family.
She is survived by her children; Thomas (Kelly) of London, Jamie of Hamilton, Edward (Trish) of Burlington and William of Vineland, her grandchildren; Adam, Andrew, Byron, Jon, Liam, Mary, Michael, Mischa and Patrick and her dear friend and sister-in-law, Virginia “Dixie” Macleod of Vineland and recently Toronto.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines (905-684-6346), at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, with burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Port Dalhousie. A reception for friends and relatives will be held on Henley Island starting at 1:00 p.m. on May 11, 2013.
