February 1, 1968 - October 20, 2013
Passed away peacefully and courageously with loving family by her side at the picturesque Niagara-on-the-Lake Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Mary known all her life as Alex or Sandy lived a full life having studied and lived in such locales as Nice, France; Tokyo, Hong Kong; and Cyprus. She was born in St Catharines and graduated with an Honors B.A. at Brock University before working for the Department of Justice, GNWT in Yellowknife, one of her former Canadian residences before returning to St. Catharines. She was the eldest daughter of John and Norma Christie who will dearly miss her compassion and warmth. She is also survived by her loving husband Campbell MacLean and daughters Carolyn, Camryn and Lauryn, and her siblings Robyn, Emma and Andrew. During her lengthy illness her main concern, characteristically, was for the feelings of those around her. She didn't want others to be upset on her account and worked hard to not dwell on what was happening but to always look ahead. She was a treasured mother and was held in high regard by those who knew her for her respectful and considerate approach to life. Her ability to connect with people from any culture or walk of life was truly amazing! She will be sorely missed by those of us who love her.
