Peter Michael Halenko

The family of Peter Michael Halenko sadly announces his passing at the Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Centre in St. Catharines on Saturday, February 4th in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of the late Pauline (nee Rusnak). Loving father of Christine (Lorne Zarazun) of Revolstoke, British Columbia, Judie of Calgary, Alberta, Peter (Denise) of Fonthill and predeceased by his daughter Mary-Jo of Niagara Falls, Ontario. Peter will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Gregory Afonso (Kar Yee), David Afonso, Mary Afonso all of Vancouver, British Columbia, Kristina Afonso of Edmonton, Alberta, Atom DeGuire (Brad Latendresse) of Toronto, Nathan Kense of Calgary, Alberta, Adrien Dallaire (Josee) of Gatineau, Quebec and Justin Dallaire (Maxine) of Toronto. He will be fondly remembered by his great grandson Rowan Afonso of Vancouver, British Columbia, nephews David and John Babyak and niece Mary Lou Babyak, all of the United States, his wonderful friends, including his lunch buddies at the Heidehof - Edelweiss Seniors' Apartments. Mr. Halenko was predeceased by his parents William and Pearl Halenko and his sister Ann Bowman. Peter was proud to have served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during WWII. He worked at General Motors, St. Catharines as a tool controller for close to 48 years. His passion for woodworking and his brilliant creativity have been handed down to his children and grandchildren. A special thank you to the staff at the Heidehof for their superb care and friendship to Dad. He was so happy there, in his later years, because of you.

The family will receive friends at the HULSE & ENGLISH FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 75 Church Street (905-684-6346)on Friday March 3rd from 9:30am. A Memorial Funeral Mass will follow at the Cathedral of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, 3 Lyman Street at 10:30am. Interment Victoria Lawn Cemetery

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heidehof Home for the Aged will be appreciated by the family.
