Also surviving Ruth are 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and by brother Bill Whalley. Predeceased by her parents WDC and Carrie Whalley, 12 siblings, Ken Appleyard, Cy Snider, Fred Smith, stepson Dave Snider, Aaron Snider and son-in-law Lee Handrahan.
Ruth was no stranger to hard work and robust family life. Throughout her life’s journey, through good times and bad, she instilled a strong work ethic and importance of family in her children. For all of her life, important to Ruth was her deep abiding faith and dedication to her church community. She spent a number of years as the Kitchen Coordinator at Central Gospel Temple, sang in the choir, participated in women’s group and bible study, and sewed costumes for church plays to name a few. She touched many lives with her wonderful smile, mischievous nature, generous spirit, big hugs, and tender compassion.
A special thank you to all of the staff at Linhaven for the care, kindness, and support you gave to Mom since she came to live at Linhaven. There are too many of you to name, we are grateful to all of you.
The family will be accepting friends and family at Hulse & English Funeral Home & Chapel, 75 Church Street, St. Catharines, on Tuesday, January 17th, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the Hulse & English Chapel on Wednesday, January 18th at 12:30 p.m. Burial to follow at Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
