Bill was known for countless contributions to family, life and the Niagara community. Bill worked at General Motors in St. Catharines for his career and retired early to take on interesting activities. He was a member of the Niagara Woodcarvers Association and a competition woodcarver, winning awards from the Sportsman Show to the World's Carving Championship (Ocean City). Bill was a daily peregrine falcon bird watcher at Niagara Falls and close with the Niagara Bird Watching Association. Bill wrote two books on this subject and was known internationally for his dedicated work.
Bill continued to expand his horizons. At 76, Bill took up rollerblading. Gardening was a lifelong passion and his home was always full of colourful bloom. At 92 he took up piano lessons given his love of music. Jeanne Tesligate has been a dear friend and his piano teacher of many years. Bill played the piano until he entered hospital just over a month ago.
As a Father, he was everything a daughter could wish for. As a grandfather, he cared more deeply than we will ever know. As an uncle and friend, he had many, with his love, laughter, jokes and stories to share.
"No Guts No Glory
Glory is Acquired, Honour is Inherited
Glory is Ours to Win
Honour is Ours to Lose"
