Aldo was the beloved husband of the late Virginia (nee' Farrow) Carnaghi; wonderful dad of Cheryl (Tom) Dixon and Ricky Carnaghi; dear godfather and uncle of Yvonne Krzmarzick; treasured uncle of Rene' McKee, John Frisella, Rodney and Pam Medler, Carol Lee, and so many more; a great uncle, a great-grand-uncle, and a good neighbor.
Aldo was born in St. Louis to Naldo and Rose Carnaghi, and grew up on The Hill. He attended Shaw Grade School, and at the outbreak of World War II, enlisted at a young age in the United States Marine Corps. He served our country in the Pacific. He married the love of his life, "Gents, " in 1951, and together raised their children, Cheryl and Ricky, in Affton.
Aldo loved tending his lawn, reading the paper, and being a homebody. He liked cars, and drove sports cars when he was a younger man. He and Gents liked to dance and were great dancers. He enjoyed cooking dinner every night, with a glass of vino. He needed to know what the weather was doing about five times a day. In the early days, he loved taking his family on road trips, short and long, always appreciating the scenery along the way. Saturdays meant Mass and a trip to Rigazzi's on The Hill for their cavatelli and a glass of wine.
He was a proud member of American Legion Post 111.
He was the most generous father, affectionate, welcomed guests into his home with a hug and a kiss for the women. He loved his son-in-law, Tom. He expressed his opinions freely, and if he didn't like something, he didn't hold back. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Monday, May 6, from 9-11am at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa Street, St. Louis MO 63109. A Funeral Service will follow at 11am in the Chapel at the funeral home.
