Charles M. Vago

Vago, Charles Martin who passed suddenly on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the age of 72. Beloved husband of Carol Vago (Stratton); loving father of Lisa Vago-Toth, Denise Vago and Charlie (Lauren) Vago; special grandfather of Mackenzie & Brendan Toth and Charlie & Preston Vago; dear brother of Carmen (Butch) Snow, Ron (Sandra) Vago and Dennis (Susan) Vago; dear brother-in-law of Julie (David) Hill and the late Ben (Carol) Stratton; a dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Charlie was the sole proprietor of Mom’s Deli, who partnered with his brother Ron for 39 years. He grew up on “The Hill” where his mother and father had a grocery store for 27 years. Charlie fell in love with his childhood sweetheart Carol Stratton - they married and had three beautiful children and four grandchildren, whom he loved dearly.

He was full of life, love and laughter with a dynamic personality that would light up a room.

SERVICE: Funeral Mass Friday, September 1, 2017, 10:00 am at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 5730 Wilson Ave.; St. Louis, MO 63110. Visitation Thursday, August 31st, from 3 pm – 8 pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa St.; St. Louis, MO 63109. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Charlie’s name to the Sick and Elderly Program of the Hill.
