Fr. Edwin Albers OFM

Fr. Edwin Albers, OFM, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Sunday November 26, 2017 at the age of 83. Fr. Edwin was born February 21, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Anton and Margaret (Wienstroer) Albers. Father Edwin was one of 10 children. Survivors include his sister, Shirley Schallom, of St. Louis, MO; and many nieces and nephews. Our dear Franciscan brother, Colleague and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Fr. Roland Albers, MSF; Melvin (Gloria) Albers, Maurice (Loraine) Albers, Antoinette (George) Ulses, Luella (Marvin) Tebeau, Francis “Bud” Albers, Norman “Art” Albers and Fr. Austin Albers, OFM.

Fr. Edwin entered the Franciscan Order on July 4, 1954 and was ordained a priest June 13, 1961. Fr. Edwin served in Quincy, Ill, Bishop Creek, Ill and St. Louis, MO for most of his priestly life.

Services: Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 3140 Meramec Street, St. Louis, MO. Visitation will be prior to the Mass of Christian Burial from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, in St. Louis. Memorials are suggested to the Sacred Heart Province, St. Anthony Friary, 3140 Meramec Street St. Louis, MO 63118-4399. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary.
