Esther L. Matousek

Born in Indian Mound, Tennessee on September 18, 1922, Esther is preceded in death by her parents Margaret (Molly) and John Carson Austin, and her husband Oliver A. Matousek, her sisters Kathryn, Theora, Tommie, Imogene, and Addie Marie. Although she had no children of her own she is lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, stepchildren, step-grandchildren, as well as great nieces, great nephews and great step grandchildren.

Esther was a long time member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and served in many lay capacities within the parish including President of the Ladies Club, and the 50-Plus Club. She enjoyed playing golf, belonging to several golf leagues over the years, even winning many against competition decades younger than she was. She also volunteered at local professional golf events, and continued to play each week well into her 90’s. Esther enjoyed bowling and joined many leagues in the colder months with a shelf full of trophies to show for it. Esther produced many craft items for sale at fundraisers for various Parishes around St. Louis. She was also an award winning doll maker.

Visitation will be held at St Raphael the Archangel, 6000 Jamieson Ave, St. Louis, MO 63109, US, on April 14, 2026, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at the same location on April 14, 2026, at 10:00 am.

The Committal will take place at Bellerive Gardens Cemetery, 740 N Mason Rd, St. Louis, MO 63141, US, on April 14, 2026, at 11:30 am.
