Georgina passed away at Grandview Health Care located in Washington Missouri at age 89. Georgina was born in Camaguey, Cuba; she was a university graduate where she received her teaching degree. Her first assignment was to start her own public school in a rural area in Cuba. She grew the school and taught over 100 students of all ages in a two room school house.
In 1962 during the Cuban missile crisis Georgina, husband Orlando and 5 year old son Luis decided to leave Cuba and come to America. Georgina sacrificed everything she had worked hard for and accomplished in Cuba, turning over all possessions to the communist government including her home so that her son Luis could have a better life. Starting from zero in America, Georgina worked 27 years at St. John's Mercy Hospital in the print shop and retired in 1994. She loved her family, always put them first and we loved her dearly.
Georgina leaves behind her son Luis, friend Rebecca Holtmeyer, daughter Mary, Grandkids Angeles and Austin.
