Brenda just returned from visiting family in St. Louis, bringing with her the sad news in the form of Greg’s obituary that her mom had clipped out of the paper. It hit me like a ton of bricks. How could someone who was always so full of life have passed on? Greg was my college roommate and we had a great time together. In 1984 I was back in St. Louis for a job interview and dropped by to see Greg and Poppy. That was a wonderful thing – I always felt welcomed just dropping by. We moved back to Webster in June of that year and Greg and Poppy were the first people we had over to dinner at our little rental on S. Elm and later the first people we had over for dinner after we bought the house on E. Pacific. I remember backyard volleyball games, going to see the Cardinals and the Big Red play, and an overnight at Brenda’s family cabin on the Meramec, among other outings. Everything was fun because of Greg’s wonderful personality. But my favorite memories are the many walks around the block and seeing Greg on the front porch and just dropping by. Greg, I miss you. You and your family are in my daily prayers. God Bless You.

To my dear Poppy and your beautiful family,

I was doing a search for Greg when I came upon his funeral announcement.  I had just previously reconnected with Rick Blanner and his wife, and was looking forward to doing the same with you and Greg.  It was devastating to find that I was a month too late.

Greg was such a great person.  He was funny and entertaining all of the time.  I always enjoyed being around him.   One of the most endearing memories that I have of him was when he fell head over heels in love with you. It’s such a pleasure to look at your family pictures through the years and see that love in his eyes and his wonderful smile in every picture.  I’m so proud to have known him, and having had the pleasure of his companionship.

A good friend, neighbor and great shortstop.  Played like a pro and could make a double out of any hit.  Opponents were never ready for it.  Strong competitor, kind in heart.  Good family. Good memories.  So long  Greg.  You can play with the pros now.

Dear Poppy, Joe and Sarah,  The Morgan family grieves  with you  for the death of Greg.  We feel  much empathy for your great loss .   Those of us that can make the trip to St Louis will come to the Memorial Service to honor Greg.  We send our love and condolences with sincerity and feeling.
