

Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, ended his journey through this life on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the age of 74.
Beloved husband of the late Sandra Joan Bennett, dear father of Matthew (Emily) Bennett, Mark (Beth Ann) Bennett, and Michael (Megan) Bennett; and precious grandfather of Zachary Bennett, Christopher Leon, Amalie and Sami Bennett and Sam Katcher, the lights of his life. Dearest son of the late Helen (Siedler) Bennett and the late Harry A. Bennett; cherished brother of Robert (Joyce) Bennett and Carol Beile; adored uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, friend, and mentor to many.
Harry was an alumnus of St. Andrew Grade School, Bishop DuBourg High School, and Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville; and honorably served his country as a member of the Missouri Air National Guard from 1961 – 1967. A pillar of the Lindenwood Neighborhood since 1968, he was actively involved in its growth and stabilization as a leader in the Lindenwood Homeowners Association. An entrepreneur, small business owner, and later a Commercial District Manager for the St. Louis Development Corporation for a little over 20 years, he worked to improve the neighborhoods of Cherokee, South Broadway, and Dogtown. His dedication to these neighborhoods reinvigorated them with new life and vitality. His ability to work in and improve the neighborhoods inside the city limits will be felt and shared for generations to come. His honor and commitment to his family, friends, neighbors, and community had a direct positive impact on everyone he worked with. His lifetime of dedication to family, friends, and community truly exemplifies the value of selfless service and sacrifice.
Services: Funeral from Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa, Saturday, September 7, 2013, 10 am Chapel Service. Internment Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation Friday, September 6, 2-8 pm, and Saturday, Sept 7, 9-10 am, until time of service at 10 am. Harry was a lifelong supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
