James J. Liermann, 76, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Friday, February 11, 2022. Beloved husband of Judith (nee Niebling) Liermann; dear father of Jennifer McGrath, Julie (Mark) Laury, Jamie (Tom) Haug, and Jessica (Brian) Kennedy; dear grandfather of J.J., Caitlin (Jacob), Maggie, Izella, Vincent, Adalaide, Samantha, and Morgan; dear brother of Geraldine (John) Roberts and JoAnn (Roger) Powers; dear brother-in-law of Carol Liermann. Dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend. James was preceded in death by his parents, August and Izella (nee Vahey) Liermann and his siblings Leo (Mary) Liermann, Rev. Raymond Liermann, Evelyn (Bruce) Tomlin, Patricia (Lou) Bertel, Adele (Robert) Reynolds, and Vincent Liermann.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his family, chauffeuring his grandchildren around, watching St. Louis sports, bowling leagues, poker nights, and watching the sunset from his backyard swing. He was often volunteering for the Saint Vincent De Paul pantry, Twice Blessed Resale Shop, and numerous school and church activities. Jim was friend to all and a stranger to few.
SERVICES: Visitation 4-8pm Tuesday, February 15, 2022 Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary. Mass of Christian Burial 10am Wednesday, February 16, 2022 St. Stephen Protomartyr Catholic Church 3949 Wilmington, St. Louis, MO 63116. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial contributions to St. Vincent DePaul Society c/o St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish or to Our Lady's Inn greatly appreciated.
As much as we'd love to gather after the service, we have decided to not have a luncheon due to Covid.
