She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dennis “Denny”; her children, Erica (Chris Catron) and Emily; and her grandchildren, Neo and Lilith; her siblings, Louise Conroy (Patrick) and Marie McCloskey (Tom); and her many beloved nieces and nephews. Patti was born in Yoakum, TX and raised in St. Louis, MO. Following graduation from Bishop DuBourg High School, Patti completed a vocational certification in office administration from Hickey Business School, Clayton, MO. Following work in the private sector, Patti transitioned to a 32-year career in federal service, ultimately retiring from her last assignment with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers - St. Louis District.
Family was close to Patti’s heart. Patti loved being “MarMar” to her grandchildren, Neo and Lilith. Always a “people person” she never tired of hearing what was going on in the lives of her siblings, daughters, grandchildren, friends and beloved nieces and nephews. She cherished her conversations with her sisters and friends. Patti loved her family in many ways. She found her sewing therapeutic and made many baby blankets and burp cloths for family and friends welcoming children into their lives. Patti also loved to cook, and her husband Denny, along with others, benefitted from her rich New Orleans family culinary heritage passed down by her mother. Patti loved community involvement as leader of two Girl Scout troops, girls’ softball coach as well as her involvement with her parish communities, St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church, as Eucharistic Minister and Lector, and later St. Justin Martyr. Patti loved feeding and identifying backyard birds visiting her many feeders. In retirement, Patti, along with husband Denny, was a hospice volunteer for over eight years with Pathways Hospice and Palliative Care. She loved her hospice people especially those in memory care settings.
Her husband, Denny, often observed how it was that many people, even complete strangers, were drawn to Patti. People instinctively sensed Patti’s openness, acceptance and loved her hugs.
