Patricia Ann Merlo

Pat was the loving sister of Kay (John) Grein, and the late James "JJ" (Janet) Merlo; fun and adventurous aunt of Debbie Merlo, Tim (Cara) Merlo, Bob Merlo, Gretchen (Todd) Bender, Maggie (Phil) Nikolai, Kristen Hensen, and Shelly Merlo; devoted great-aunt of Kelsey, Caitlyn (Cole), Jack, Anna, Mark, Sam, Ava, Aubrey, and the late Joseph, John, and Matt; a dear cousin and friend to many in her lifetime.

Pat was born and raised on the Hill and attended Nerinx Hall for high school. She worked for International Shoe Company and later for the Astroturf division of Monsanto, from where she retired after 30+ years. Pat loved musical theatre and directed multiple plays and shows at St. Ambrose and other local parishes. She and her siblings and friends had a band called 'The Sounds of Plenty" and performed at restaurants and weddings for many years. She was the musical director of the annual Hill Day celebrations. She never shied away from singing and dancing with anyone willing.

Pat was a proud member of The Hill community and you'd be hard pressed to find a Hill organization that she wasn't a part of. She was one of a kind and never afraid to speak her mind. She was a hoot! Her presence will be greatly missed on The Hill and in St. Ambrose parish, and among her family and friends.

A visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 7 from 4-8pm at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa 63109. A second morning visitation will be from 9-9:30am at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 5130 Wilson Avenue at Marconi 63110, followed by the recitation of The Rosary at 9:30am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am. Interment Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Pat's memory to St. Ambrose Forever c/o the Matthew Nikolai Scholarship or the Sick and Elderly Program of The Hill would be greatly appreciated by her family.
