Beloved daughter of the late Cecelia and Al Nurre; beloved wife of the late Martin Leo Hughes, Sr.; loving Mother of Marty (Judy) Hughes, Kathy (Paul) Higgins, Mike (Glenna) Hughes, Dan Hughes, Joanie McCarthy, Ginger (John) Eichhorn. Wonderful Nana to Christine (Allen) Will, Laura (David) Evelev, Paul M. Higgins, Jr.(deceased), Kerry Hughes, Annie Hughes, Colleen Eichhorn, Andrew Eichhorn,Kevin Eichhorn, Sean McCarthy, Patrick (Wendy) Hughes, Dawn (Ryan) Spell, Tim Hammelman. Loving Great Grandmother to Shannon, Matthew and Kathryn Will, Natalie and Ben Evelev, William Hughes, Pacey Hammelman, Cullen Hammelman, and Carson David Spell. Dear sister of Betty Scoville, and the late Dorothy Johnson. Dear Aunt to Peggy Johnson and Tim Johnson; Carol, Don, and Jack Scoville; the Tom and Gert Hughes family - Dorothy, Tom, Nancy, Susan, Bob, and the late Patsy Hughes; and the Anne and Frank Horan family- Bob, John, Elizabeth, and Don. Great Aunt to many including Megan Mueller, and friend to many.

Virginia loved music and was devoted to The Blessed Mother her entire life.. She was compassionate, loving, and devoted to her husband, her children and grandchildren, and her many many friends, especially the late Marcella Scott, her best friend since kindergarten...... Her spirit will forever light the path of the lives that she touched over the years.

We will forever be grateful to the wonderful staff at Hawthorn Place in Bethesda Meadow. Each and every one of the nurses, aides, and helpers treated our Mom just like their own.

How blessed that we all are to have this beautiful individual as our Mother.

SERVICES: Visitation 3-8pm Friday, October 26, 2012 at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary 6464 Chippewa (at Watson). Funeral Mass 10am Saturday, October 27, 2012 at St. Roch Catholic Church 6052 Waterman (at Rosedale). Interment Calvary Cemetery.
