Edith Virginia Warzeniak Winter Moellenhoff, 96, was taken into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on November 10, 2022. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher, and friend.
Ginny was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 26, 1926 to Sigmund and Edith (Tinkham) Warzeniak. She was the oldest of three girls. She and her sisters, Jane and Joyce had a deeply close relationship throughout their lives. They sang together, raised their children together, endured hardships together, rejoiced together. In 1947, Ginny married Roy T. Winter. Together they raised four children; Linda, Janet, Bruce, and Mike. Roy passed away in 1984. In 1989, Ginny married George Moellenhoff. For more than 32 years, they have shared love for the Lord, love of travel, and love for their family. George faithfully cared for Ginny as her health declined.
Throughout Ginny’s long and well-lived life she touched countless lives. She graduated from Harris Teacher’s College and had a long career in the Ladue Public School System investing in children both as a teacher and as a Learning Disabilities specialist. After retirement she continued to teach, volunteering in the English as a Second Language program. Her teaching spirit also shone through in her years of church service. She was active in MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) for many years, and she served as a Stephen’s Minister.
Ginny had a lifelong love of art and was a gifted artist, painter, basket weaver, and knitter. Ever the teacher, in later years she taught some of these skills in her Laclede Groves retirement community. She had a lifelong love of music and sang with her sisters and in the church choir. At home, she was always humming a tune as she cooked and did household chores. Ginny loved to travel. She and George enjoyed many trips during their retirement years. She also deeply loved her family, traveled with her grandkids, and played countless games complete with an extremely competitive spirit and a lot of good humored needling!
She had a beautiful smile, an infectious laugh, and a genuine interest in whoever she was talking with at the moment. Most of all, she had a deep love of Jesus Christ and has most certainly been welcomed into her heavenly home with a “Well done good and faithful servant”. She will be dearly missed by family and friends, but how grateful we are to have had her in our lives!
Ginny is survived by her husband, George Moellenhoff, her sisters, Jane (Bill) Pohlman and Joyce Dohrmann, her children Linda Deupree, Janet (Bill) Hetzler, Bruce (Mary) Winter, Mike (Linda) Winter, her step-children Chris Brown and Mark Moellenhoff, her grandchildren Derek Deupree, Jen Cross, Molly (Mike) Fontana, Jared (Jessica) Winter, Max (Jamie) Winter, and Justin Winter, her step-grandchildren Rob (Kelly)Perrine, Nick Perrine, and Andie Brown, her great grandchildren Billy and James Cross, and Michael and Vince Fontana, Jillian and Jenna Winter, step great grandchild Bailey Perrine, and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.
