

A Great Man and Friend to All
Passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on June 13, 2011 at the age of 92. Survived by his loving wife Lorraine of 60 years; sons, Edward III, Robert, James (Julie); daughter, Loretta Fleischhacker (Tim); four wonderful grandchildren, Jenna, Jamie, Justin, Jared; brother, Paul (Arloene) and sister Marynetta Hartung, many nieces, nephews, and extended family, also many wonderful friends. Preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Myrtle; brothers, Donald, Lawrence and sister, Faye Weigenant, and more wonderful friends. Born April 9, 1919 in New Augusta, MS, and made St. Paul, MN his home. An Eagle Scout from Boy Scout Troop 10 on the West side of St. Paul, and a lifelong Scouter on the East Side of St. Paul. A long-time Faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church where he and Lorraine have many cherished friends. A retired US Army Master Sergeant, proudly serving his country for 30 years. A veteran of WWII, serving with the famous 34th “Red Bull” Inf. Div. in North Africa and Italy. Awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, the Bronze Star Medal w/OLC and earned the Combat Infantry Badge, plus many other medals including the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal w/five Battle Stars and the World War II Victory Medal. Also served in Germany, Korea, and Japan and the US, as US Army Recruiter he served in his home town, the Twin Cities area, for over 10 years. Also a retired MTC Bus Driver. Enjoyed his retirement years spending time with family and friends, going places and doing things, he traveled the world, seeing some of it on his bicycle. Edward C. Funeral service 1PM Friday, 6/17, at GRACE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1730 Old Hudson Road, St Paul with visitation from 11AM-1PM. Interment at Riverview Cemetery.
