She is survived by her loving husband James (Jim), Siblings: Terrence Bork (Kathy), Patricia Hendrickson (Wally), Michele Johnson (Larry), Victoria Panek, brother-in-law Joel Jacobson (Linda), and sister-in-law Susan Roden. She is also survived by special friends John and Cheryl Eischen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Kathy was born at home in Balsam Lake, WI and was the oldest of six. Luckily her Aunt Peg was there to help with the birth.
Over the years Kathy lived in many places: Balsam Lake, WI, Oakdale, MN, North St. Paul, Albuquerque, NM, and White Bear Lake, MN. She attended high school in North St. Paul where she sang in the choir, participated in gymnastics (balance beam), and it was during this time she came in as second runner up in the Miss North St. Paul pageant.
She met the love of her life, Jim, in 1969 while she worked at the Kresge’s in the Sunray shopping center. She worked the lunch counter and Jim worked next door at Kinney Shoes. She married Jim on September 21, 1970 and lived in Albuquerque while he served in the army. When they returned to MN they bought their first home in Oakdale, 2 blocks from where she grew up. They bought their current home, in White Bear Lake, in 1976.
Over the years Kathy worked many jobs: St. Jude Medical, State of MN, American Bank, Northwords Secretarial Service (she owned). Life Fit Training (she owned), Festival Foods and North American Lutheran Church.
Kathy loved dogs. Her and Jim were parents to Boots, Buster, Muffin, Jack and Ginger. She also had many hobbies that brought joy to her life: singing; she took great pride in singing with the North High Alumni Choir for many years as well as singing in the church choir and performing solos. She sewed (since 7th grade), she found peace in acrylic painting, gardening, traveling, scuba diving and golfing.
She also found great peace with her church family, she was a member of Eastern Heights Lutheran Church all her married life.
Our Kate had a very kind and generous soul. She never hesitated to reach out or to take the time to say hello. She had an adventurous spirit and an insatiable desire to learn and do new things. The people in her life never doubted how much they meant to her or that she loved and cared about them. Her love was deep and joyful, and she will always be near in our hearts.
A funeral service for Kathy will be held Friday, August 23, 2024 at 11 AM, with a visitation one hour prior, at Eastern Heights Lutheran Church (LCMS), 616 Ruth St N, Saint Paul, MN 55119.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Eastern Heights Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
